Oh no, I need a 3D printer now
A designer called Luke The Maker did the impossible: he made me want a 3D printer. Why? Well, he’s used to making a gaming console for it UFO 50.
Of course, the LX console doesn’t exist; you can play alone UFO 50 on your PC.
But on October 4, Luke the Maker decided to change that. On X he has documented the process of designing a functional LX.
It will be ready from October 17 and I will never need a 3D printer again.
The LX created by Luke the Maker consists of a 3D printed shell containing a small PC. It has a sturdy power button and a floppy drive, as well as two ports to connect controllers. It is true to the appearance of the console inside UFO 50‘s launch trailer And UFO 50‘s splash screen, and I covet its blocky, beautiful shape.
On X, Luke said the console cost about $280 to make, not including the PC components inside the case. Luke also created a custom housing for the circuit board of an NES controller, which can function as a controller for the LX. It has two buttons and a D-pad: simplicity in a nutshell. Players switch between games by pressing the System button on the console itself, as the controllers do not have a home button. In a video showing the construction, LukeTheMaker writes that he believes this is the intended design.
LukeTheMaker says the printer files will be made available at his top-rated Etsy store within a week or so. I’m waiting! How do I use a 3D printer now…?
