Simon Cowell has canceled Thursday’s Britain’s Got Talent auditions following the tragic death of Liam Payne at the age of 31 on Wednesday.

The singer tragically died on Wednesday after falling from his room at the Casa Sur Palmero Hotel in Buenos Aires.

Simon – who formed Liam’s famous band One Direction – decided to cancel the auditions in Blackpool at the last minute when he discovered the shocking news.

Applauswinkel, which arranges tickets for filming, announced the news in a statement: ‘Due to the tragic death of Liam Payne, BGT has decided to postpone today’s auditions in Blackpool. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Simon, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and KSI were set to continue filming for BGT after auditions kicked off on Tuesday.
