Jennifer Lopez encourages fans to vote in the 2024 election – amid Ben Affleck divorce

Jennifer Lopez looked radiant on Wednesday as she used her star power to encourage fans to vote in the 2024 general election in the United States.

Working with independent organization I Am A Voter, the On The Floor hitmaker, 55, appeared in a short video, opening up about being a registered voter herself.

Lopez — who is “moving forward” amid her divorce from Ben Affleck — also offered a tool for people to check their voter status in the US

“The general election is coming up on November 5th and most can vote early,” Lopez began.

“This year we are voting for the president, every seat in the House of Representatives, a third of the Senate, and key state and local leaders who directly shape our lives. So let’s do this together.’

She then urged fans to “text VOTER to 26797 to check your registration and make your plan to vote.”

Lopez concluded, “I am a voter. Are you?’

For the video, the Selena star wowed in a plunging off-white blazer dress with a fitted waist belt.

She rocked full glam makeup and voluminous honey-colored curls.

The clip marked a rare social media post for Lopez, who shocked fans by filing for divorce from husband Ben Affleck, 52, in August after months of divisive rumors.

A source said PEOPLE last week that Lopez isn’t bitter about her failed marriage and is instead focusing on her future.

“Although this has been one of the most difficult years for Jennifer, she is ready to move on as a single woman and prioritize her career,” the insider said.

‘She didn’t want to file for divorce. She just felt like she had no choice. Nothing would change with Ben.”

According to court documents, the pop star and the Hollywood hunk listed their separation date as April 26, which came as no surprise to fans as the couple noticeably spent the summer of 2024 on opposite coasts.

The insider continued, “She was very upset about it [their split].

‘But true to her positive outlook on life, she continues optimistically. Instead of feeling like she fell flat on her face, she sees that it was meant to be. She is now taking time for herself.’

And she has no bad feelings towards her, Dear Ben and Dear Ben, Pt. II muse.

Instead, she chooses to focus on their good memories.

“She knows she lives a privileged life in many ways. She is very grateful for all the wonderful memories with Ben, but is now focused on creating the best future for herself and her children,” the source said.

The pair – affectionately called Bennifer – first started dating in 2002 after playing lovers on the set of Gigli (2003) and soon became engaged.

But they split in 2004, just before becoming husband and wife.

They both married other people — she exchanged vows with Marc Anthony in 2004, while he walked down the aisle with Jennifer Garner in 2005 — but after splitting from their respective partners, they eventually found their way back to each other.

They rekindled their romance in 2021 and finally said “I do” in Las Vegas in July 2022.

Their assets are currently up in the air because Ben and Jen didn’t sign a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot.

She broke her silence on the split with Interview magazine, describing it as a “lonely, unknown, scary” time.

She added: “It feels sad. It feels desperate.’

The singer emphasized her willpower to move forward and accepted that she has “learned that lesson.”

On Wednesday, a source shared Affleck’s perspective on the divorce and how he was coping without Lopez by his side.

‘Ben is very focused on his work and his children. He remains busy and happy,” the insider said PEOPLE.

He’s reportedly working on a new collaboration with Good Will Hunting co-star and longtime BFF, Matt Damon.

Their upcoming projects keep Ben busy.

‘He has a very good relationship with Matt. Matt is Ben’s confidant. Matt always knows exactly what’s going on with Ben. They also like to work together,” the insider says.
