What is the level cap and maximum item power in Diablo 4?
As with all great RPGs, you achieve the level limit And Item power maximum inside Diablo 4 is the ultimate endgame goal that everyone strives for. How can you make your character as strong as possible? Of course you have reached the maximum level!
While the idea of the maximum level used to be very complex Diablo 4Blizzard has simplified things considerably with the Vessel of hatred expansion. The idea of loot breakpoints is also largely gone, and acquiring loot is less about the numerical ‘Item Power’ list at the top of the item and more about its stats and additions – at least in the endgame.
In this Diablo 4 guide, we’re going to teach you how to make sure you get the maximum equipment and efficiently bring your character to maximum power.
What is the maximum player level?
There is a maximum player level in Diablo 4 and a maximum Paragon level, which are now separated – just like Diablo 3if you are known.
When you create a new character, you start at level one. As you complete campaign missions, kill enemies or complete activities, etc., you’ll earn XP, level up, and earn skill points to improve your build. This is pretty standard RPG stuff. This will continue until you reach level 60.
At level 60, you stop gaining levels and have all your leveling skill points (you can get skill points from other places, like the Renown System and Altars of Lilith). You then unlock the Paragon system. Instead of earning skill points at each level, your XP contributes to your Paragon level, which goes very quickly (at first). You get one Paragon point for each Paragon level you win, and there are 300 Paragon levels.
If you need help leveling up quickly, check out our XP farming guide.
Level 60 with level 300 Paragon is the real limit of the gameand after that point you will no longer earn XP. This is an extreme endgame goal, and it’s not something most players will achieve. Even very dedicated players will likely earn between 200 and 300 Paragon Points if the system slows down quite drastically.
You’ll start this journey again each season, unless you want to play in the Eternal Realm, which we normally don’t recommend.
What is the maximum power level of the item?
Your main goal inside Diablo 4 is to adventure through the difficulty levels until you reach the Torment difficulty, starting with Torment 1. Until then, you really want to put on top-level items regardless of the additions. All that matters until then are legendary powers and the highest possible stats.
Once you reach Torment 1, all additions, legendary powers and items can disappear for you. You could become a max-power character in Torment 1 if you play long enough (although the drop rates are better at higher Torment levels). On Torment, all level 60 legendary items will drop Item Power 750. Once here you are just looking for better stats and additions.
The real chase here is for Ancestrally legendary and Unique articles. These articles always stand out 800 item power and have at least one Greater affix (basically an Affix that is significantly stronger than a normal Affix, but cannot be changed) attached to it. As you progress through the endgame, you’ll be looking for all 750 legendary gear with as many Ancients as you can get. Then you’ll want to start by replacing your 750 Legendaries with 800 Ancients. And then you’ll want to start replacing your 800 Ancients with Ancients that have multiple Greater Affixes that are good for your build.
