Judge who presided over the 1996 murder trial of Michael Jordan’s father calls for convicted killer’s release
The judge who presided over the murder trial of Michael Jordan’s father is calling for the convicted killer to be released.
Retired Judge Gregory Weeks has petitioned the North Carolina Parole Board calling for the release of Daniel Andre Green, who was convicted in the 1996 murder case.
Weeks says a forensic blood expert failed to disclose significant findings during the trial, which could have cast doubt on Green’s guilt.
James Jordan was shot in 1993 at the age of 56 as he slept in his car on the side of a highway in his native North Carolina. Prosecutors alleged that Green shot James Jordan during a botched robbery.
Green has denied killing James and insists he merely helped co-defendant Larry Demery dispose of the body in a South Carolina swamp.
