According to NFL Network’s Ian RapoportThomas underwent surgery for the injury on Wednesday morning.
The 25-year-old was a second-team All-Pro in 2022 and will be sorely missed on quarterback Daniel Jones’ blindside.
The injury occurred Monday night during the Giants’ loss to the Bengals.
Rapoport had previously reported that Thomas met with renowned foot expert Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte.
Andrew Thomas is expected to miss the rest of the season for the Giants with a major blow
Unfortunately, this is the second season in a row in which Thomas has struggled with injuries, as he also missed seven games last year.
Through six games this season, the Giants are just 2-4 and struggling to put points on the board.
Allowing just 16 points per game, the Giants have the fourth-worst scoring offense in the league, trailing only the Browns, Patriots and injury-plagued Dolphins.
With a crucial home game against the rival Philadelphia Eagles this weekend, Josh Ezeudu is now expected to take Thomas’ spot at left tackle.
