Richard Wilkins, 70, holds hands with makeup artist girlfriend Mia Hawkswell, 47, at Nicole Kidman’s mother’s funeral

Richard Wilkins, 70, was accompanied to Nicole Kidman’s funeral on Tuesday by his younger girlfriend Mia Hawkswell, 47.

The veteran entertainment reporter held hands with the celebrity make-up artist as they entered St Francis Xavier Church in Lavender Bay to say their final goodbyes to Janelle Kidman.

Wilkins looked dapper in a dark suit and tinted glasses, while his new girlfriend looked sophisticated in a dark dress covered with a long black coat.

The Nine star went public with Hawkswell earlier this year, following his split from ex Nicola Dale.

Mia is the go-to make-up artist for a number of high-profile women in Sydney, including Sonia Kruger (who reportedly introduced the couple), fitness influencer Rachael Finch, Jessica Rowe and Kate Waterhouse.

Nicole Kidman was supported by her loving husband Keith Urban as they attended her mother’s funeral in Sydney.

Janelle died last month at the age of 84 – just hours before Nicole won best actress for her role in Babygirl at the Venice Film Festival.

Nicole held hands with her country music star husband, 56, as she arrived at the church wearing a long black coat and designer sunglasses.

The couple were also joined by their two daughters Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith Margaret, 14, as well as Nicole’s sister Antonia, 54.

Nicole’s older children Bella and Connor, whom she adopted with her ex-husband Tom Cruise, did not appear to attend the service.

In an emotional moment before the funeral, Sunday was seen wiping tears from her eyes as she was overwhelmed with emotion on the difficult day.

She was supported by Faith and cousins ​​Lucia, 26, Hamish, 23, and Sybella Hawley, 17, the children of Antonia and her late husband Angus Hawley.

Antonia shares another son, James, with Angus – who died of a suspected heart attack in April 2015 – while she welcomed two more sons, Nicholas and Alexander, with her second husband Craig Marran.

Craig supported Antonia at Janelle’s funeral when, in one heartfelt moment, he was seen lovingly placing his hand on her shoulder outside the church.

The Kidman family were joined at the intimate service by close friends, including Australian TV presenter Peter Overton, his wife Jessica Rowe and their daughters Allegra and Giselle.

In one sweet moment, Allegra was seen supporting Nicole’s daughters Sunday and Faith as she embraced them in a tight hug.

The Overton and Kidman-Urban clan have had a close relationship over the years and even rang in the New Year together at the famous family’s multi-million dollar North Sydney penthouse on January 1, 2023.

Peter also acted as pallbearer at Nicole’s father Antony’s funeral on September 19, 2014, which was held at the same church as Janelle’s service.

Antony died at the age of 75 in Singapore of a suspected heart attack, and the Kidmans said goodbye to him at a more public funeral, with many famous names, including Russell Crowe, paying their respects.

Last month, Nicole and Antonia shared an emotional tribute to their late mother on Instagram and posted some never-before-seen family photos.

In the post, the Perfect Couple star thanked her millions of fans and supporters for expressing their condolences during their time of grieving.

“My sister and I, along with our family, would like to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week,” Nicole wrote in the joint statement.

“Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we can ever express. Thank you from our entire family for respecting our privacy while caring for each other.”

Speaking about his new romance with Daily Mail Australia in June, Wilkins said things between him and Hawkswell were blissful.

‘Life is good. I’m happy. “It’s going well,” he said.

Wilkins, who is usually quiet when it comes to his private life, added: “It’s a little weird when people stick their heads out of the bushes, but that’s OK.”

Daily Mail Australia broke the news of their relationship last week after the Channel Nine star was spotted with Mia at his girlfriend Annika Martyn’s birthday party.

In a video that Annika shared on Instagram, Richard was seen stepping out of a boat hand in hand with Mia.

Mia also shared a cryptic post on her Instagram Stories, showing off her clinking glasses with a man off camera, captioning it: “All you need is love.”

Mia reportedly recently split from long-term partner, while Richard broke up with his long-time girlfriend Nicola Dale.

Richard previously dated Over the Back Fence podcaster Nicola for four years before news of their split was confirmed in January.
