Lucy Beaumont’s male companion revealed as sound engineer who once worked with her ex husband – as pair leave theatre together six months after split from comedian Jon Richardson

Lucy Beaumont’s mystery man has been revealed as sound engineer Martin Wallace.

On Sunday evening, the comedian was spotted leaving the Lowry Theater in Manchester, where she was picked up by Wallace before the pair rushed off into the night.

Beaumont, 41, looked in good spirits at the outing – which came six months after she confirmed the end of her marriage to comedian Jon Richardson.

Although it is not known when Beaumont and Wallace first met, he previously worked as a sound engineer on her ex’s 2014 stand-up special, Jon Richardson Live: Nidiot.

Wallace is an experienced sound engineer who has worked closely with a range of comedy stars including Rob Beckett and Dara Ó Briain.

He is also a talented multi-instrumentalist and self-taught on guitar, piano and bass.

The nature of their relationship is unknown.

MailOnline has contacted Lucy Beaumont’s representatives for comment.

Richardson and Beaumont announced their decision to divorce in April after nine years of marriage, a move that surprised their fans.

They share a daughter and tied the knot in April 2015 after starting dating in 2013.

Beaumont and Richardson first met through friend Roisin Conaty and subsequently worked together on a number of shows, including Meet The Richardsons.

But in a joint statement in April they said: ‘After nine years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated. We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.”

Richardson handed over £1.625 million to Beaumont as they parted ways with their nine-year marriage.

And the comedian has since spoken out about their split in an interview with OK! Magazine.

She told the publication: “People might think I should talk about it because we were so public and everyone knew us as a couple, but I don’t, and not because there is any animosity.

“We both agreed that while it might be weird if other people didn’t hear about it, we wouldn’t talk about anything that had to do with the marriage or each other.”

She added a recent new approach to life now that she’s in her 40s: “I don’t really feel any different, just a little angrier and unwilling to accept anything from anyone.”

It comes after Beaumont said she sometimes worries she “made a mistake” by marrying Jon, as she slammed his stubbornness in an unearthed clip.

A resurfaced video shows her sharing her marital problems on Richardson’s show Ultimate Worrier, where he brings guests to help analyze his many concerns.

When asked if Beaumont had concerns about her ex-husband, she replied, “I have a lot. Sometimes I’m afraid I’ve made a mistake.’

She went on to describe how Richardson cannot admit he is wrong or made a mistake, something she said can be difficult for a marriage.

“One thing I think is really hard in a marriage is when the other person can’t admit when they’re wrong,” she continued. “I can’t say sorry, I made a mistake.”

The ex-couple were joined on the episode by Jonathan Ross, who said: ‘It’s crucial that there’s no way a relationship can survive that.’

“You can’t judge me on that unless I make a mistake,” he replied, as the audience started laughing. “It’s not fair.”

To prove her point, Beaumont added, “And he honestly thinks I’m the flawed one and you never make a mistake. I have an example and it’s actually not a pleasant story to tell you.’

She started telling a story about their honeymoon, where they rented a car and drove across America, while Jon looked at the map and decided to book a hotel in Santa Cruz.

“Then I looked up Santa Cruz and it has the highest homicide rate in America,” she said. “Worse than LA, like the most dangerous place to be. I mentioned this to Jon and he said, well, I’ve booked it now.

‘So we went into a falafel bar and sat in the window, looking at the sea and I thought, this is getting a bit later, things are turning a bit, and then you wouldn’t have any of it anymore. .

“Anyway, a gang showed up and one of them got stabbed in the chest, and I looked at Jon, he remained emotionless. Like he was watching two pigeons having an argument and I was in shock.”

She added: ‘I said, “Oh, I can’t eat this,” so Jon ate my falafel too and I said, “It’s not bothering you?”

“All because he wouldn’t admit we were in a dangerous place.”

In another old clip recently shared, Beaumont jokingly said she didn’t think her marriage to Richardson would last a lifetime, two years before they announced their divorce.

In an unearthed clip from 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown in 2022, Beaumont shared her candid take on their marriage, prompting Richardson, also 41, to ask “are you splitting up?”

In the show’s footage, host Jimmy Carr asked her: “Why did you decide to settle?”

To which the comedian replied: ‘I can’t see this for the life of me, isn’t there a song Just Passing Through? A season, a reason or a lifetime.’
