Kylian Mbappe is ‘accused of rape at Swedish hotel as police open investigation’

Kylian Mbappé has been accused of rape and sexual harassment in a Swedish hotel, according to local media.

Earlier today, Mbappe labeled a report as “fake news” about an alleged rape at the hotel where he was staying with friends last week.

But now Swedish newspaper Express claims it is Mbappe who is being investigated by police after allegations were made against the Real Madrid star.

The footballer was visiting Sweden with friends from Wednesday to Friday last week and stayed at the Bank Hotel in the city centre.

It is alleged that the alleged rape took place on Thursday. Mbappe had visited the Chez Jolie restaurant earlier that evening, before heading to V nightclub with his entourage and eventually back to his hotel in a black van.

Today on X, Mbappe shared a newspaper article about an alleged rape at the hotel and wrote: ‘Fake News! It becomes so predictable, just before the hearing, as if it were a coincidence.’

A hearing will take place tomorrow as part of his battle against his former club PSG over £46 million in unpaid wages and bonuses.

Expressen said a police report was filed two days later.

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reports that police are investigating a rape at the central Stockholm hotel that reportedly took place on Thursday evening.

According to Aftonbladet, investigators and a forensic unit were at the scene of the crime on Monday.

The newspaper reported that the alarm was raised about the alleged rape when the woman “sought care” at a local hospital.

Mbappé left Sweden’s Bromma Airport on a private jet on Friday.

The prosecutor in charge of the rape investigation declined to comment on the case, telling local media: “I will not say anything about this.”

Stockholm police issued a similar statement to MailOnline through spokesperson Carina Skagerlind: “The police can neither confirm nor deny such a case.”

According to Aftonbladet, no suspects have yet been named in the case.

MailOnline has contacted the local public prosecutor’s office and the Bank Hotel for comment.

This comes ahead of tomorrow’s hearing into £46 million in unpaid bonuses and wages that PSG must pay to Mbappe.

Mbappe was due to receive a signing bonus in February and must pay unpaid wages over his seven-year spell in Paris before joining Real Madrid in June.

PSG has refused to pay the amount and follows the ruling of the French football association LFP.

It is understood Mbappe contacted UEFA last month over the salary dispute.

On Thursday night, when Mbappe was spotted at V nightclub in Stockholm, it was the same night his French national team teammates defeated Israel 4-1.

Mbappe has been criticized in his home country France for skipping the Nations League matches against Israel and Belgium while he was available to play for his club Real Madrid.

The footballer suffered a muscle injury to his hamstring last month, but returned to the pitch after his club’s Champions League defeat in Lille last Wednesday, before apparently heading to Stockholm.

He also played most of Real Madrid’s match against Villarreal this weekend, but said he now needed more rest as he continues his recovery from his hamstring injury.

France coach Didier Deschamps had announced he had left Mbappe out of the national team squad, saying the 25-year-old lacked preparation having played too few games.

In a video released by the French Football Federation (FFF) on Monday, Deschamps said: ‘Kylian embodies many things… the interests of the clubs and the interests of the national teams inevitably diverge.

‘We must also remember that the employer is the club, not the federation.’

Mbappe is France’s captain and with him – and vice-captain Antoine Griezmann – missing matches, Deschamps said others should take on the role.
