Grief-stricken Nicole Kidman is comforted by her husband Keith Urban at her mother Janelle’s funeral as their daughter Sunday Rose breaks down in tears

Nicole Kidman was supported by her loving husband Keith Urban on Tuesday as they attended her mother Janelle’s funeral in Sydney.

The Australian actress, 57, looked somber as she joined her family at St Francis Xavier Church in Lavender Bay to say goodbye to her beloved mother.

Janelle died devastatingly last month at the age of 84 – just hours before Nicole won Best Actress for her role in Babygirl at the Venice Film Festival.

Nicole was supported during the emotional day by her sister Antonia, her husband Keith and her daughters Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith, 14.

Nicole was seen arriving at the church hand-in-hand with her loving husband Keith, 56, as he supported her throughout the service.

They said goodbye to Janelle at the same church where they held Nicole’s father Antony’s funeral after his death from a heart attack in September 2014.

Nicole was born in Honolulu and raised in Sydney by Janelle and her psychologist father Antony, along with her younger sister Antonia.

Nicole pursued her passion for acting when she was a teenager and was supported by both her parents as she achieved worldwide fame.

Both remained heavily involved in her career over the years, with Nicole recently admitting she would still go to her mother for advice.

In November, the Big Little Lies star opened up about how she often asked her mother Janelle for advice on her outfits, despite working with a slew of professional stylists.

In a sign of their close bond, Nicole told People, “My mom is still — she’s so involved in what I wear.”

Known for her bold fashion choices, Nicole shared how her mother and grandmother first nurtured her love of clothes.

‘I love fashion. I have always loved fashion,” she said while speaking at the Planet Omega pop-up launch in New York.

“As a little girl, I grew up with a grandmother who loved fashion and could sew, and so did my mother. They liked nice clothes. They could make beautiful clothes,” she continued.

‘I saw them sewing, embroidering, knitting and crocheting. And I think when you grow up and you see the people in your household doing that, you’ll love it.”

Never shy about expressing her affection for Janelle, Nicole shared a touching tribute on her mother’s 82nd birthday last year.

She took to Instagram and posted a gallery of photos of herself and her family celebrating at a party with Janelle, and wrote a few sweet words in a caption.

“Happy birthday, Mom. You are so loved by all of us,” Nicole wrote.

She also took the time to send birthday wishes to her mother while on the Oscars red carpet in Los Angeles with her husband Keith Urban.

‘Today is my mother’s birthday. Happy birthday, mom. We love you so much,” Nicole said to the camera.

“We threw her a party when we got back to Sydney. She is the heartbeat of our family, so we love you, Mom.”

In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald in May 2020, Nicole also spoke about missing her mother while living abroad in the United States.

“I would love to be able to have a cup of tea with mom and sit on the balcony and talk about life, and let her tell me what to do,” she said at the time.

Nicole had an equally close relationship with her father Antony and was left devastated when he died of a heart attack in September 2014 aged 75.

The Oscar-winning actress previously revealed that her father’s ‘sudden’ death, as well as a series of other losses, had affected her deeply.

‘Death came to me as something very sudden. I didn’t put anyone through a slow death, I just had people kidnapped,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald in 2020.

‘I’ve been through it repeatedly now, I almost get scared when I say it because I’m terrified it will happen again. I still have a lot of fear about that.’
