Jamie Borthwick has broken his silence on the Strictly Come Dancing curse after she was rumored to be dating his partner Michelle Tsiakkas.

The EastEnders star, 30, who was single, laughed off the rumors and admitted the pair are ‘more like siblings’.

Speak with The sunJamie said: ‘Honestly it’s hilarious that people think we’re going jiggy!’

‘I really don’t know where that comes from, but I think everyone is a little anticipating the Strictly curse.’

The actor continued: ‘There’s absolutely no need to worry about Michelle – she’s like a sister, mother and aunt all in one. I am being mothered! We have sibling chemistry.”

Shortly before appearing on the show, Jamie sparked romance rumors with his EastEnders co-star Jazzy Phoenix.

Meanwhile, Michelle is dating her boyfriend Simone Arena, a Dancing With The Stars champion.

Earlier this week, Jamie admitted he is feeling ‘extra pressure’ ahead of this week’s Strictly Come Dancing as he appears on Thursday’s episode of Good Morning Britain.

The EastEnders star revealed he and professional partner Michelle will take the Quickstep to Elton John’s I’m Still Standing.

However, Jamie said he needs to ‘take his routine to the next level’ after winning last year’s Christmas Special with the dance and scoring a perfect 40 by the judges.

The actor, who plays Jay Brown/Mitchell in the BBC soap, said: ‘There is extra pressure this week and we have to level up.’

Michelle added: ‘We’ve added more difficult technical elements this week.’

Speaking to presenters Kate Garraway and Ed Balls, the soap star added that the Christmas show is ‘totally different’ to each week’s live shows.

Jamie continued: “It’s nothing like the Christmas show, which I thought was bad. I was so nervous, but the live show is completely different because it’s a new dance every week, the nerves are getting worse every week.”

The BBC star also revealed to viewers how he couldn’t turn down the invitation to appear on Strictly again, despite some of his co-stars calling him a cheat.

He continued: “I went to talk to Strictly in 2018. Go and dance, I was paired up with Amy Dowden at the time, and we didn’t do it that year and then the Christmas show came along and I absolutely loved it.

‘I loved the atmosphere of Strictly. And I was kind of hoping they would ask me to do the main show.

“I didn’t think it would happen this year, but when they asked it was no problem. I love the pros, the crew and the Strictly feeling.”

Jamie, who scored an impressive 50 for his Rumba last week, also revealed that his attitude to dancing has changed after previously taking dance classes at the Sylvia Young Theater School.

He explained, “I went to Sylvia Young and we did our dance classes there, but I didn’t focus on it that much. I wasn’t interested in dancing. But with the rumba, I think I just loved it by sheer luck.

“I was very happy that Shirley was happy because she is the rumba queen. I wouldn’t say it was effortless, but I really tried.”

Last year, Jamie was crowned the winner of the Strictly Come Dancing 2023 Christmas special alongside long-time partner Nancy Xu.
