Chelsea star Marc Cucrella took a brutal swipe at superstar teammate Cole Palmer for his performance but believes the England international is destined to ‘be among the best’.
Palmer has made a stunning start to the 2024/25 Premier League season with six goals and five assists from Chelsea’s opening seven games.
Four of those goals came in a dazzling performance against Brighton on September 28, that The Blues won 4-2.
Despite the 22-year-old’s winning displays for Enzo Maresca’s side, Cucurella believes Palmer has one glaring flaw.
“If you don’t see him in his kit, you would never in your life say he was a footballer, but on the field… he shoots and it doesn’t look like he’s hitting hard, but he scores them all,” Cucurella said. .

Cucurella believed that Palmer did not look like a football player and felt his hair needed to be improved
However, the Spaniard praised Palmer and believes he can ‘be among the best’
‘He’s very different. I don’t know how to explain it. He’s special. We are very lucky to have him. We are lucky that he didn’t play much at the European Championship either, because he came on and almost ruined it for us.
‘If he continues like this, he will be one of the best. There’s not much power in the hair, but if that’s his only problem, then he’s fine.’
It would take some effort on Palmer’s part to replicate Cucurella’s curly brown locks.
Few Chelsea fans will be concerned about how Palmer looks as long as he maintains his blistering form for the Blues.
It didn’t take long for Palmer to become a Stamford Bridge hero following his £43million move from Manchester City in 2023.
He scored 22 goals and registered 11 assists in his debut season for the club as Chelsea finished sixth in the league under Mauricio Pochettino.
However, the Argentinian left the club at the end of the season when former Leicester City boss Maresca was named as his replacement.
Under the Italian, Chelsea is fourth in the Premier League with 14 points.

Palmer even scored all four of Chelsea’s goals in the 4-2 win over Brighton in September
Maresca’s side have proven to be one of the biggest entertainers in the league this season, scoring the second most with 16 goals, just one shy of Manchester City’s tally.
The Blues’ only defeat came in their opening match against City, but went unbeaten in the next six matches.
Chelsea also recorded victories over Barrow and Genk in the EFL Cup and Europa Conference League respectively.
However, Maresca’s men face a difficult task in their return after the international break, when they play leaders Liverpool at Anfield on October 20.
