Kamala Harris’ magazine cover sparks fears over ‘Vogue curse’
After Vice President Kamala Harris, 59, reported Fashion‘s October 11 digital issue, people flocked to X (formerly Twitter) in fear of a “Vogue curse.”
President Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, was on the cover of Vogue on July 1, 2024, and he dropped out of the race on July 21.
Since Kamala is now the cover star of Vogue, some people on social media think it’s possible she will experience the same ‘curse’.
“Vogue cover means curse in 2024,” tweeted Connecticut-based portfolio manager Andrew Fisher, who stoked fear by sharing Jill Biden’s cover.
Andrew explained, “Do you remember the last time Vogue Dr. Jill on the cover? Just a few days later, Joe was gone. Is this what they call the Vogue Curse?’

SI got another comparison when someone said, “The last time Vogue put a political figure on the cover, it was Jill Biden. As soon as it was published, Joe Biden was pushed off the ticket. Maybe Vogue is the new ‘bane’ of Sports Illustrated. ‘And this will be Dr. Driving Jill to despair.”
Some didn’t see the comparison, as Biden’s resignation was unprecedented.

“Why do you call it a curse after one negative incident?” one person wondered.
The cover of Vogue called the Democratic presidential candidate the “candidate for our times” as she posed in a Gabriela Hearst suit and her infamous $800 Tiffany & Co. pearl earrings, part of her extensive jewelry collection.
However, some people on social media felt that Kamala’s photos looked too airbrushed and thought the cover looked like AI.
Kamala previously covered Vogue in 2021 and appeared dressed in her signature Converse sneakers, along with a black suit jacket, black skinny jeans and a white T-shirt.
