Microsoft unveils new AI tools to help doctors and nurses work
Microsoft has unveiled a range of healthcare-focused AI tools designed to improve efficiency within the sector by tackling the burden of administrative workloads.
The new tools include advanced medical imaging models, an AI-driven service for healthcare agents and an automated documentation solution for nurses, helping the industry tackle labor shortages, growing patient lists and rising costs.
The newly added multimodal basic medical imaging models promise to handle various types of data, including medical imaging, genomics and clinical records. Organizations will be able to build, refine, and deploy AI solutions using healthcare AI models to fill gaps currently left by inefficiencies, time constraints, and patient overload.

“By integrating AI into healthcare, our goal is to reduce the burden on medical staff, promote collaboration among collective healthcare teams, and improve the overall efficiency of healthcare systems across the country,” said Mary Varghese Presti , VP Portfolio Evolution and Incubation at Microsoft Health and Life Sciences.
Microsoft has also promised to address the accessibility of healthcare data. The tech giant is typically unstructured and has limited data management systems and aims to overcome this challenge with its analytics and data platform Fabric.
Key to this is DAX Copilot’s conversational data integration, which automates clinical note-taking to reduce administrative workload.

Currently in public preview, Microsoft hopes the first look at its upcoming AI tools will serve as a strong indication of its efforts to become an integral part of healthcare systems worldwide.
