Elon Musk is mocked for his bizarre pronunciation of ‘Robovan’ – as one Tesla fan claims he ‘makes it sound like a herpes medication’
After months of anticipation, Elon Musk finally unveiled not one, but two new Tesla vehicles to the world last night.
As expected, the billionaire showed off a fleet of Robotaxis, while also unveiling a surprise second vehicle: an autonomous van called Robovan.
However, it was Musk’s pronunciation of “Robovan” that really got the crowd talking.
Several stunned Tesla fans took to X (formerly Twitter) after the Hollywood launch event, with one claiming Musk’s statement made the Robovan sound “like a herpes drug.”
“Robovan sounds great, but why does he say it like that,” asked another confused viewer.

The Robovan looks like a huge moving toaster and has no steering wheel, pedals or driver.
It can seat up to 20 people or be converted to carry goods, Musk said.
However, he did not provide any details on the production, timeline or costs.
“What happens when you need a vehicle bigger than a Model 9?” Musk said at the event, as the Robovan drove onto the stage.
‘The Robovan. We’re going to create this, and it’s going to look like this.
“Can you imagine walking down the streets and seeing this coming towards you? That would be sick!’
After the event, several Tesla fans went to X to discuss Musk’s statement about the vehicle
One joked: ‘Making a robovan and calling it Robovan while pronouncing it Rohbohven is crazy work’
One user added: “The way Musk pronounces ‘Robovan’ as ‘ruh-BOH-vin’ is just killing me, like this is supposed to be some kind of parody”
You would probably expect Robovan to be pronounced like rowboat.
However, Musk pronounces it ruh-bow-vin instead.
After the event, several Tesla fans went to X to discuss Musk’s statement about the vehicle.
“I loved the way Evil Elon pronounced Robovan because I’m sure everyone else will pronounce it Row bow van,” one user tweeted.

In addition to the Robovan, Musk also unveiled a fleet of self-driving cabins called Robotaxis
“The way Elon pronounces robovan makes it sound like a herpes drug,” they tweeted.
This is not the first time Musk has confused the world with his strange statements.
In 2020, Musk and singer Grimes welcomed a son named X Æ A-12 – pronounced ‘X Ash A Twelve’.
Musk said on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast: “First of all, it’s my partner who most came up with the name.
“I mean, it’s just X, the letter X, um, and the ‘Æ’ is pronounced ‘Ash,’ and then A-12 is my contribution.”
He added that A-12 stood for “Archangel 12, the precursor to the SR-71, the coolest airplane ever.”
