Stormzy reveals he ‘cried’ after being ‘overwhelmed’ by the pressure of fame

Stormzy revealed he felt “overwhelmed” by the pressures of fame as he returns to the music industry after a two-year hiatus.

Speaking to Louis Theroux about his new interview series, the 29-year-old rapper explained that he was “crying” because he was feeling “super depressed” while trying to become the best performer.

It comes after Stormzy reflected on his painful breakup with ex-girlfriend Maya Jama when he opened up about their relationship on Friday.

The rapper admitted to making mistakes during their four-year relationship, but revealed that he has grown since then.

The couple, who split in 2019, have remained friends, despite Stormzy previously admitting they were “disrespectful” and “inconsiderate” towards her.

In exclusive offers obtained by The sunthe musician spoke candidly to Louis, 52, and admitted he had learned some hard lessons after their breakup.

Stormzy further hinted at a mistake he made during his four-year relationship with Maya, adding that he never wanted to feel that way again.

A representative of Maya confirmed the split with MailOnline at the time, whereby the Radio 1 DJ would have already moved out of the rapper’s house.

Maya’s representative told MailOnline, “I can confirm that the relationship has ended and Maya has separated from Stormzy.”

It’s not the first time Stormzy has spoken out about his relationship with Maya, after stating that he still loves her “wholeheartedly” and wants to marry his ex-girlfriend and have children in the future.
