Diddy to appear in NYC court today on sex trafficking charges where he will demand release on bail and spring trial

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will seek bail when he returns to court today.

The 54-year-old rapper spent three weeks behind bars after his first two requests were rejected.

He was indicted with lots of sex human trafficking and extortion crimes after his arrest on September 16.

Since then, more than 120 victims have come forward, but Diddy maintains his innocence and is demanding a trial in the spring.

He will face a judge Thursday afternoon in a federal courtroom in Lower Manhattan, where he is expected to receive an outline of the expected timeline for the remainder of his case.

His high-powered legal team is gearing up for what will be a blockbuster trial, and Diddy “asserted his right to a speedy trial” in a filing with the US Department of Justice seen by DailyMail.com.

He plans to request a trial date for April or May 2025, the filing states.

Diddy’s lawyers have also filed a motion for an evidentiary hearing, accusing the government of leaking sensitive information from the case.

Concerns have clearly been raised about the way surveillance footage of Diddy punching his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a hotel was made public.

Diddy’s attorney said, “A series of unlawful government leaks, which have resulted in damaging, highly prejudicial pre-trial publicity, which can only taint the jury pool and deprive Mr. Combs of his right to a fair trial.”

Diddy wants access to a mountain of data that prosecutors have seized since they raided his homes in Miami and Los Angeles in March 2024.

In total, prosecutors copied more than 40 of the star’s electronic devices.

“The discovery in this case is extensive, totaling several terabytes of electronic material,” the government argued in the latest filing.

There are 1,000 gigabytes per terabyte of data, meaning the government is currently sifting through thousands of gigabytes of potentially crucial information.

This includes mobile phones, laptops, tablets, hard drives and cloud accounts from both Diddy and third parties.

In addition, prosecutors sift through business records from financial institutions, telephone companies, hotels and airlines as they build their case.

It comes amid revelations that Diddy’s mother Janice Combs and twin daughters visited him in his Brooklyn jail this week, according to TMZ.

Diddy is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center after his bail request was denied.

The publication described the reunion as “emotional.”

Attorneys for Diddy said, “We understand that the government seized a significant amount of electronic devices and data from Mr. Combs pursuant to search warrants executed on March 25, 2024.

“The government also seized additional devices belonging to Mr. Combs at the time of his arrest approximately three weeks ago.

“The timely production of these materials is critical to Mr. Combs’ ability to prepare his defense.”

His lawyers argued that because the devices in question “belong to Mr. Combs, their production should not be delayed by the government’s initial review for responsiveness and privilege.”

“The government has indicated that it will be able to produce these devices in the next thirty days.”

The government has argued that it will take days even to copy the data from the devices “due to the volume of material” but has promised to “make continuous productions of hard drives seized from the defendant within 30 days.”

In the filing, the government said it hopes to hand over all discoveries by the end of the year.

An attorney representing Diddy’s accusers said his phone was ringing off the hook with people wanting to share their own horror stories.

In total, he has about 120 clients, 25 of whom say they were minors at the time the alleged crime took place.

He is also preparing to name other high-profile people who could soon be involved in the allegations.

“We want to make sure that if we name anyone other than Mr. Combs, we have done our homework because this will create a firestorm, and we understand that.

“If you were there in the room, participated, saw it happen and didn’t say anything or help cover it up, then in my eyes you have a problem.”

Buzbee vowed to “aggressively” pursue cases against any violator, saying the scope was broad.

After his arrest, all of Diddy’s celebrity friendships have come under scrutiny. Photos of his infamous parties have emerged, with guests and witnesses speaking out about the debauchery that often took place.

Buzbee previously said people would be “shocked” by the names he heard during his investigation.
