Miranda Hart has revealed the reason why she and her new husband cried on their first date.
The comedian, 51, confirmed she married her mystery partner and ‘best friend’ in an announcement on The One Show this week, following a wave of rumours.
She has gone to great lengths not to reveal his identity, calling him simply ‘The Boy’ or ‘The Mold Man’.
Miranda met her husband when he came to solve a mold problem in her £2 million home. It’s described as “a salt-and-pepper graying hair look for a good-looking man.”
In her new autobiography she writes: I haven’t been entirely honest with you, obtained in quotes The mirrorshe explained: ‘After meeting The Boy briefly and talking to him on the phone a few times (who were in their nineties), I was already quite impressed with him.’

Miranda continued, “So I decided that I was going to practice not hiding myself and my natural emotions. I would make myself vulnerable to create the most honest connection possible.
‘Yes, we were able to talk well and easily, thank you very much, please. I didn’t notice a beautiful, natural, connecting moment when he told me about a dog he lost ten years earlier, and how sad he still feels when he thinks about that goodbye. He was also a bit swollen.’
Miranda confirmed that she was married on Tuesday evening during an appearance on The One Show.
The comedian appeared on the BBC show to promote her new book I Haven’t Been Completely Honest With You, in which she writes about her husband.
She also provided rare insight into her three-decade mysterious health battle and the moment she received her official diagnosis: She has Lyme disease.
Shortly after her performance, Miranda teased the identity of her new husband for the first time when she shared a video with him on her way home from the studio.
In the short clip, only her partner’s hand could be seen as she showed off her wedding ring and thanked fans for their support after sharing their happy news.
Speaking to Alex Jones and Alex Scott on the show, Miranda declared that “someone put a ring on it” when she revealed she met “my person” at the age of 49.

She said: ‘I’m married, I got married at 51 and it’s just so beautiful! I had written Gary for Miranda on screen and it wasn’t until I was 49 that I met my person,” but insisted she keep her husband’s identity a secret.
‘It’s a small subtext in the book, I’m not going to reveal how we met, because that’s a bit of a twist. He is my best friend, we had the most fun and I love being a young bride at 51.”
The star added that she hoped readers of her book will feel hope through her love story, explaining; “The fact that I met someone during a pandemic, during a chronic illness, when I couldn’t get out of bed or out of the house… I really wanted to meet someone, I didn’t want to go on living. mine no longer.’
‘The fact that I was able to meet someone is not a romantic story, but it is hope. Whatever situation you are in, there is always hope, things are really changing.’
After the show, Miranda teased fans at the end of the video as she gave her husband a high five, after thanking fans for their love and support following the happy news.
She said, “Hello, just on the way back from The One Show with little Patty [her dog] I fell asleep on my lap and wanted to thank you so much for all the sweet messages about the news.
