Glamorous real estate agent sparks debate over ‘narcissistic’ act: ‘Did I buy a house or a human?’
A glamorous real estate agent has divided Australians over a decision to post her personal portrait on a “sold” sign instead of a photo of the property.
The officer made sure she was front and center, with just her name and mobile number next to the large photo on the billboard in Sydney.
The photo sparked debate after it was shared on Reddit this week, with one user asking: “Did I buy a house or a person?”
“Narcissism is strong here,” wrote a second.
“I don’t know of any other industry that cites persona as the dominant characteristic in marketing,” a second commented.
“If an agent were to do their marketing along the lines of ‘we sell your house, not our name,’ I would sign with them. I can’t believe no one is trying.’
“I work at an architecture firm and we always joke that we should make a sign for the front of all our construction sites that is just a picture of the four of us saying something like, ‘another one designed!’ underneath… because that’s how real estate agents do it and they make more than us,” said a fourth.
However, others jumped to defend the savvy broker.

‘The signs are not for buyers, but for sellers. You see an agent’s face on hundreds of signs saying they sold at record prices, and when you decide to sell, you subconsciously think, “Hey, that agent is selling a lot of places around here,” someone wrote.
“They advertise for other sellers, not buyers,” a second agreed.
“If you go to sell a house and every house around you has been sold with a human face on it, they assume you think they are good at selling houses and would be a good choice for your house, rather than trust someone with a track record that you don’t know.’
A third said you are essentially ‘buying a person’ when you want to sell a property.
“Real estate agents make profits by marketing to sellers and signing as many exclusive contracts as possible. Selling a house is the easy part,” they said.
The agent declined to comment on whether it was a personal choice or company policy to include a headshot on sales signs when contacted by Daily Mail Australia.
