Southwest Airlines goes down across the US with travelers unable to buy tickets or see flight status
Southwest Airlines has been hit by a nationwide outage affecting its website and app.
Customers are reporting that they will not be able to purchase tickets or view flight status after approximately 2:00 PM ET.
Southwest Airlines acknowledged the disruptions on social media and said teams are working to “get it back up and running as quickly as possible.”
“We are currently experiencing some issues given the high volumes impacting our operations, and all hands are on deck to restore full functionality,” it shared on X.

Downdetector, a site that monitors online outages, shows that major travelers in cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas and Chicago are affected.
Users submitted reports to Downdector, with 59 percent citing disruptions with the website, 35 percent with the app and five percent of customers unable to see flight status.
Travelers have contacted Southwest Airlines via X and asked about error messages they see when booking flights.
“Our technology team has been made aware of the issues our customers are facing and we will get it back up and running as soon as possible,” the airlines shared in response to a message.
These frustrated trips have also noticed that customer service is also experiencing delays, with some seeing wait times of over an hour.
Southwest Airlines is available in approximately 15 US cities, serving more than 4,000 flights per day.
