The adorable moment Penrith Panthers superstar’s daughter steals the show in NRL Grand Final celebrations
- Departing Penrith star was emotional after fourth consecutive title
- Was interviewed before moving to a rival club
- Fans couldn’t help but laugh at his daughter’s actions
Departing Penrith Panthers star James Fisher-Harris has bid an emotional farewell to his supporters, but it was his daughter Tahira who stole the moment.
Fisher-Harris played in four of the Panthers’ premiership wins from 2021 until Sunday’s grand final victory over the Melbourne Storm.
He now leaves for the New Zealand Warriors after wanting to return to his home country for family reasons.
The towering prop is not best known for his speeches, but gave a moving farewell to his Penrith supporters.
But Tahira managed to rub her dad the wrong way, with a cheeky moment where she blew confetti in his face as he tried to be serious.
However, it did not stop the Panthers coming forward, who said the moment of securing a fourth straight premiership was surreal.
‘I honestly can’t believe it. Even the way the match went,” he said.
“Storm was really good tonight, but I’m kind of thinking now about the years with the brothers and it was just nice to just spend more time with the brothers in a game like that.
‘To end on such a good note: I’m honestly still feeling good about myself.’

It was difficult to put into words for Fisher-Harris, who has built relationships with the Panthers that are more like family than friends.
“Everyone knows, as all the people within these four walls know, that there is nothing but love, and honestly, I’m so glad I get to be a part of that,” he said.
“Yes, this is my second family and yes, I’m at peace with everything, my decision and everything, but it’s been an amazing ride.
It was a rollercoaster for me both on and off the field. Also personal reasons and injuries. I just love this place and it’s so hard to move away from it, but it’s something I had to do.
“But yes, I’m going to celebrate again with the boys.”
Channel Nine personality Phil Gould was Penrith boss during the rebuild, including the recruitment of Fisher-Harris.
He spoke highly of his evolution and his development from a clumsy newcomer to a four-time NRL champion.
“He’s a very special character, James Fisher-Harris,” Gould said.
“He came across as extremely tough, he had two left feet and two left hands, he didn’t know much about the game, but he trained and ran and he was tough.
‘The story goes that when they were defeated in the 2020 grand final, he actually went and trained two days later and pretty much everyone followed him back to the gym.
“That’s the story as I understand it, that he was determined to overcome that disappointment and win a premiership.
“Now they’ve won four in a row, but he’s been an integral part of the development and also mentoring these younger guys coming through.
‘When he joined the club he was 17 years old, now he is 27, 28 years old and the leader of the club and that determines the DNA of the club.’
