Man United defender Jonny Evans has admitted that the increasing pressure on Erik ten Hag is something that is having an impact on the players.

Ten Hag’s position is again under scrutiny after the humiliating home defeat to Tottenham and Thursday’s Europa League draw in Porto.

Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe dodged a question about Ten Hag’s position ahead of the trip to Villa Park, where he watched the visitors earn a point in a match of poor quality.

Evans put on a man-of-the-match display at Villa Park to help his side leave with a point from a difficult fixture.

After the match he said: ‘It does affect the players (the pressure on Ten Hag). It is also in our minds.

“I think the more experience I have in my career has made sure I do everything I can to be ready and give everything I can for the team.”
