Peter Stefanovic and wife Sylvia Jeffreys show off their beach bodies as they enjoy a day at the seaside with young sons at Bronte

Peter Stefanovic and his wife Sylvia Jeffreys made the most of the long weekend when they headed to Bronte Beach on Sunday.

The Sky News presenter, 42, and Today Extra star Sylvia, 38, were accompanied by their children Oscar, four, and Henry, three.

They started the summer early and stripped down for a dip in the cordoned-off tidal pool before Peter went into the ocean.

Peter showed off his fit form in navy blue board shorts as he dropped a ball into the waves.

Sylvia, meanwhile, looked fit and fabulous in a black one-piece swimsuit and stayed safe in the sun with a cap and sunglasses.

She sent her son into the water in the pool while Peter did a few laps near his family.

The sighting comes after Peter recently faced public backlash over a shocking interview.

In May, Peter revealed he ‘regretted’ ruining a teenage fishing champion’s big moment and apologized on live TV following the backlash.

Keegan Payne, 19, made headlines across Australia at the time after hooking a barramundi worth $1 million in Katherine, 317km south of Darwin.

His prize catch was part of the Million Dollar Fish fishing competition, designed to boost tourism in the Northern Territory.

However, his celebration was cut short during a harsh interview with Peter.

The breakfast host asked point-blank if there was any truth to rumors that Keegan and a friend had once stolen an all-terrain vehicle and a quad bike from his former employer, Bob Cavanagh.

Keegan said the accusation was true – and issued a sincere apology to his old boss during the excruciating altercation.

The segment sparked outrage among viewers who demanded Peter resign for trying to turn a feel-good story into a scandal.

After the incident, Peter apologized to Keegan on live television.

“Apologies from me, last Wednesday we invited Keegan Payne onto our show to discuss his win in the Million Dollar Fish competition in the Northern Territory,” Stefanovic said during the first edition on Sky News.

‘During that interview I asked him about a theft that had occurred a few years earlier. I should not have asked him about those allegations and I regret them.”

Peter deleted all his social media accounts in the wake of the furore.

Meanwhile, a petition also calling on him to resign collected more than 3,500 signatures.

Sky News was also forced to apologize, with the network revealing that Peter had personally apologized to Mr Payne and his family.
