Geelong midfielder Tanner Bruhn has been interviewed by police about his knowledge of an alleged sexual assault.
The alleged incident occurred in Belmont, Geelong, on February 5, 2023.
Bruhn, along with another man, spoke to detectives from the Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse Investigation Team at Geelong police station last Thursday.
Following the interview, Victoria Police confirmed the two men had not been arrested and were released pending further investigation.
“Police have interviewed two men as part of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault in February 2023,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.
The AFL is aware of the investigation.
“As this is a Victoria Police investigation, we are unable to comment further at this time,” AFL spokesperson Jay Allen told News Corp.
Young Geelong star Tanner Bruhn has been interviewed by police over his knowledge of an alleged sexual assault
Bruhn is currently preparing for an end-of-season trip with fellow AFL stars Jack Ginnivan and Jye Caldwell
Bruhn’s football journey started at Newtown and Chilwell Football Club before moving to Geelong Grammar School and Geelong Falcons.
Bruhn was drafted by the Greater Western Sydney (GWS) Giants in 2020 and was traded to the Geelong Cats at his request ahead of the 2023 season.
Since joining the Cats, Bruhn has made 36 appearances, including appearances in the final.
Despite a season marked by shoulder and wrist injuries, Bruhn was happy to be involved in big games in Geelong.
“These are always the games you want to be a part of,” he said after the Cats pulled out of the 2024 AFL finals.
Currently, Bruhn is preparing for an off-season trip to the United States with other AFL players including Jack Ginnivan and Jye Caldwell.
The group plans to start their five-week vacation in Miami.
This trip comes after Geelong’s season ended following their preliminary final defeat to the Lions.
