The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack releases on Halloween
Developer Electronic Arts has unveiled a brand new expansion pack for The Sims4which will launch on October 31st or Halloween. The downloadable content (DLC) focuses on the suitably macabre subject of death and ghosts.
This expansion pack, entitled Life & Death, aims to further develop the death mechanics of the life simulator. New additions include the ability for your sims to create a bucket list, with goals they want to achieve before their death. Sims with items still on their bucket list can return from the dead as ghosts and may be given a second chance to complete their unfinished business before moving on or being reborn.
The DLC will also change the way sims grieve, with four types of grief related to their personality types and any relationships they may have with the deceased. Finally you will have the opportunity to draw up a will, which can determine how heirlooms or money are passed on and how surviving relatives are treated.
A new career is also included, where you take on the role of the Grim Reaper and assist in harvesting deceased souls and dealing with hauntings. It sounds like a lot of fun, but it can end up being a little too similar to the existing career as a paranormal investigator in the The Sims4 Paranormal Stuff Pack for some.
Of course, no The Sims4 expansion pack would be complete without a new city. Life & Death adds Ravenwood, a city with three neighborhoods and quite varied environments. There’s an eerie landscape, a grim graveyard and a haunted swamp to explore. It all looks great from the first screenshots and as a big fan of the equally creepy Moonwood Mill from the Werewolves game pack, I’m definitely in for it.
The Sims 4 Life and Death can currently be pre-ordered for PC at the usual expansion pack price of $39.99 / £34.99. Those who purchase it before December 12 will receive the Lasting Legacy Family Portrait, Mournful Melodies Music Box, and Plumed Elegance Mask items as a bonus.
It will be available on all platforms where The Sims4 is currently playable, including PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. That’s in addition to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility.
