TikTok star sparks fan fears about posting cryptic grief video with her husband

A TikTok star sent fans into a frenzy after uploading a cryptic video featuring her husband that referenced a tragic event that took place.

Influencer Yolanda Diaz and her husband Zach Nichols were seen in a clip chatting in a glamorous outdoor setting while admiring the mountain views.

But it was the disturbing caption that prompted curious fans to worry about her.

“We would have ever gotten up to leave if we knew what was going to happen,” the text on the video’s screen read.

An accompanying caption added: ‘Today is awful, this is all I have.’

TikTok star sparks fan fears about posting cryptic grief video

Wednesday’s video post wasn’t the first to hint that something was wrong. On September 29, Yolanda posted a getting ready video discussing her declining mental health and how she is coping.

Hinting that she was not well, more than 1,300 alarmed followers sent their well wishes, with some hoping for a little more information to reassure them.

“For the sake of our family, I won’t go into details, even though I understand the curiosity 100%. We are just heartbroken right now, today was horrible and filming something so normal is not possible at this time,” Diaz wrote back to one person, but declined to be more specific.

A significant portion of the comments under her video came from fans letting her know they were in their thoughts.

One viewer wrote: ‘I can’t get over all the love in these comments. What a testament to your impact on this little corner of the internet, Yolanda. Sending so much love to you and Zachary.”

Another person said, “I don’t know what I’ve been missing, but I pray you have the time and space to process whatever this is and find peace on the other side, no matter how long it takes.”

The video saw noticeably higher engagement compared to other clips on her TikTok account, with nearly 13 million views at the time of writing.

On the same day, her brother Jesus Diaz posted a light-hearted message video who said, “Life is worth living” while cooking tortillas in a frying pan.

But her disturbing clip, posted on Wednesday, wasn’t the first to suggest something was wrong.

On September 29, Yolanda posted a preparation video where she discussed her declining mental health and how she copes.

“If I’m honest, emotionally we’re hanging on by a thread,” she said.

“This week and next week should be one of the happiest times of our lives, both career-wise and family-wise. Instead, it has become one of the saddest and darkest times our family has ever experienced.”

She said her anxiety was so bad that she scratched her face – which she showed in the video.

The influencer said she believes it’s important to make sure you can grieve with your partner because grieving is messy, implying that the couple is currently experiencing their first loss.

One viewer wrote: ‘In our first year of marriage my mother died of cancer. Having a partner to get you through all that emotion and fear can make a world of difference and I am so grateful.”

Another wrote: ‘I hope your mother and family are doing well. Grief is a monster and my marriage is the only thing that saved me during my darkest moments.”

But not all fans are happy with Yolanda’s lack of explanation.

On one Reddit thread, a number of bewildered followers expressed their frustration at being told something was wrong but being left in the dark.

One person wrote: ‘Ugh, thanks for posting this. She’s been rubbing me the wrong way for a few months now. In her comments, she also said, “It’s not my story to tell, but it seems like you want to tell it.”

Another wrote: ‘I really don’t like it when people are coy about things like this. As if they are looking for opinions.’
