Murder investigation launched after Australian woman killed following late-night lawnmower incident – as police make bombshell admission about her husband

Police have claimed that a woman, initially believed to have been killed in a lawnmower accident, has been murdered. A murder investigation is now underway.

Frances Crawford, 49, was found dead at her home in Upper Lockyer, southeast Queensland, in the early hours of July 30 after police received reports she had been seriously injured by a ride-on mower.

However, police confirmed days later that her death was being treated as suspicious.

Queensland Police Chief Inspector George Marchesini held a press conference on Friday morning and confirmed they believed Ms Crawford had been murdered.

Her body was found by emergency services at the bottom of a retaining wall in her backyard, along with the lawn mower.

Investigators have also discovered that Ms Crawford’s husband, Robert, was messaging other women on dating apps around the world and in Australia.

“We believe there were women involved in relationships with Mr. Crawford who may have information about Frances that could assist in this investigation,” he told reporters.

“We can say that Mr. Crawford has had contact with women both nationally and internationally.”

Det Spt Marchesini would not confirm whether Crawford is being treated as a suspect in his wife’s murder.

Mr Crawford had called triple zero and was assisting police with investigations. He has not been arrested.

Police said he has had contact with women in countries including the US, Italy, Papua New Guinea, Guam, Japan, New Zealand and around Australia.

Mr Crawford is a member of the Australian Defense Force and is a Squadron Leader based in Amberley Air Force Base.
