President Joe Biden mocked the Pennsylvania Republican Senate, hopeful, Dr. Mehmet Oz, because he went to high school in Delaware – the state he represented in the US Senate for 36 years.
“Delaware was smart enough to send him to New Jersey,” Biden said Thursday night during a closed-door fundraising drive for Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman in Philadelphia.
The line was delivered as Fetterman and Oz engage in a thrilling Keystone State race that could determine the fate of the majority of Democrats in the Senate.
Fetterman spent much of the campaign portraying Oz as an out-of-touch carpet dredger from nearby New Jersey.

While Oz insisted that Fetterman may not be up to the challenge after he suffered a stroke in May, the Democrat used social media and viral marketing tactics to troll Oz about his New Jersey roots.
Over the summer, Fetterman used the Cameo rent-a-celebrity service to have the Jersey Shore’s Snooki tell Oz that Jersey wouldn’t “forget” him.
“And don’t worry, you’ll be back in New Jersey soon. This is only temporary,” said the reality star.
The Fetterman campaign also flew a banner over New Jersey’s beaches, welcoming Oz “home.”
A number of Philadelphia residents—and thus Pennsylvania voters—spend their summers along the coast.

The Fetterman campaign flew a banner over the Jersey shore in July, welcoming hopeful Dr. Mehmet Oz of the Pennsylvania Republican Senate.
John Fetterman had also mocked Oz for taking a trip to South Philly in July for Pat’s and Geno’s cheesesteaks. “Ah yes, the trip to Pats + Geno’s – a rite of passage for every tourist,” Fetterman tweeted at the time
President Joe Biden, John Fetterman and his wife Gisele arrive at a Moon Township Primanti Brothers on their way back to the Pittsburgh airport on Thursday afternoon, where they pick up sandwiches filled with French fries and coleslaw.
On Thursday, Biden spent time with Fetterman on both sides of Pennsylvania, traveling first to Pittsburgh to the site of the bridge collapse in January before raising dollars for the candidate in Philly.

But Fetterman, his wife Gisele and the president were doing their own food politics Thursday afternoon, stopping at a Primanti Brothers in Moon Township on the way back to the Pittsburgh airport.
A Western Pennsylvania staple, the sandwich chain is known for adding a layer of French fries and coleslaw between the giant slices of bread.
