Gender reveal burnout costs Australian dad $1100 fine and his ride
A man has been fined more than $1,100 after an unusual gender reveal party that police say could have been deadly.
Police were called to Franston Gardens Drive in Carrum Downs, in Melbourne’s south-east, about 2pm on Sunday afternoon after reports of hooning.
They found about 30 partygoers and children gathered in the street, watching a driver burn out as blue smoke poured from the car’s tires.
First Officer Darcie Sword said the blue smoke was part of a baby gender reveal party.
Senior Sergeant Hulley told News Corp it was an extremely dangerous stunt that could have killed or seriously injured people.
He said parents were more concerned with filming the burnout than caring for their children.
“(I’m) completely baffled that someone would be so stupid and that people would think it’s a good idea,” the senior sergeant said.

“They could have been dead, they could have stepped in front of the car. (It’s) shameful behavior and bad parenting.
“If anyone wants to have a gender reveal, have a cake.”
A 29-year-old man from Frankston North had his Holden Commodore seized and was fined $1,120.50.
It is expected that he will be prosecuted for a summons for traffic violations.
