Dramatic update after boomer was caught keying a stranger’s Tesla at a Woolworths car park

An elderly man caught keying a Tesla in a Woolworths car park has been charged in a major win for the stunned EV owner.

The 77-year-old man was charged with destroying or damaging property after he was caught by the owner, David Shannon, holding the vehicle.

Mr Shannon shared footage of the elderly man dragging a key over the side of the EV in Queanbeyan, near the ACT border, on September 19.

‘Does anyone know this man? He keyed my car at Woolworths,” Mr Shannon captioned the video on a community Facebook page.

A police investigation led officers to a nearby home on September 24.

The 77-year-old has been summoned to appear at Queanbeyan Local Court on November 11.

Last month, viewers were quick to assume Mr Shannon was parked in a disabled parking space, before immediately shutting down the theory.

‘To be clear, I am not in a disabled parking space. The handicapped parking spaces are on the right as the arrow on the sign indicates,” he wrote.

“This is not going to be a cheap solution and I would like to give him the opportunity to ask him politely what drove him to do this.”

Mr Shannon previously told Daily Mail Australia the repairs would cost $3,000.
