Woman ‘spikes’ her friends’ drinks during night out to prove how easy it is to do

An influencer has revealed how eerily ‘easy’ it is for someone to spike your drink on a night out, while she tainted her own friends’ cups, for example.

Shirah Benarde is the founder and CEO of Nightcap, a scrunchie that doubles as a drink sleeve.

When she’s not selling her creation, the Forbes 30 Under 30 member shares information about the risks associated with a night out on her TikTok channel, where she has more than 113,000 followers.

Most recently, the 21-year-old took to the video-sharing platform to raise awareness about drinking spikes by recording herself lacing her friends’ drinks at various events.

In the sensational clip, which has been viewed more than 184,000 times to date, she ‘spiked’ her friends’ drinks by adding sweets to them despite not wanting to illustrate how ‘quickly’ a predator could take advantage of you.

She captioned the video, “With everything going on with Diddy, this is important to remember. Don’t let your guard down, even at a private party.’

Shirah was referring to the disgraced hip-hop mogul’s arrest on September 16, in which he was charged with sex trafficking, extortion and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Diddy was most recently accused of spiking drinks with horse tranquilizer after 120 victims came forward.

In an effort to shed light on the dangerous reality of enjoying a boozy drink at the bar with your friends, the businesswoman shared footage of herself throwing candy into drinks while people weren’t looking.

“I spike my friends’ drinks with candy to show them how easy it is,” she said at the beginning of the video.

The video then cuts to several clips of Shirah dropping candies into her friends’ drinks while they were texting or talking to someone.

As she poured gum drops into cans and squeezed sweeteners into cups, she revealed that the majority of people don’t think about the dangers of leaving their drinks unattended.

She said: ‘The drinking binge is most likely being done by someone you know, think about what’s going on with Diddy right now.

“Pre-games and private events create a false sense of security. You don’t expect anything to happen, but it does.

“It’s that quick and easy,” she added as she pretended to give her boyfriend a hug as he “spiked” his drink.

Shirah showed how distracted people can be while under the influence of alcohol as she successfully spiked drinks despite the owner standing right in front of their drink.

She added, “You guys aren’t paying attention. You thought I asked him a question. Your drink can be spiked even if it is water.

‘Men are spoiled too, it doesn’t matter whether you drink from a can or a bottle. Always watch the bartender prepare your drink and order an angel shot if you feel uncomfortable.”

An angel shot is used to indicate help and has been explained in many viral videos. Some users have even described the different ways the ‘drink’ can be ordered depending on the severity of the situation.

At the end of the clip, the influencer said: “Never leave your drink unattended – with or without a nightcap.”

People on the internet flocked to the comments section and praised the content creator for the shocking video.

One person said: ‘Honestly this is a fun way to teach your friends to mind their drinks.’

Someone else added: “So smart.”

Another user wrote: ‘That’s terrifying to see in real time.’

‘I love this! People think it’s really hard to do,” someone else wrote.

The clip comes amid allegations against Diddy, who is making a third attempt at bail after two previous denials – two weeks after he was arrested on sex trafficking charges.

He has added renowned attorneys Anthony Ricco and Alexandra Shapiro to his legal team, which already included veteran attorney Marc Agnifilo, a former assistant district attorney in Manhattan.

The indictments, which detail allegations dating back to 2008, accuse him of abusing, threatening and coercing women for years “to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his behavior.”

He has denied being guilty of the charges.

Following his arrest, he was denied bail by Judge Andrew L. Carter after using both his and his mother’s home in Miami – valued at $50 million – as collateral.

The rapper made headlines again after more than a hundred victims accused him of poisoning their drinks.

How an angel shot can save your life and the different ways to order it

  • When ordering drinks, the ‘angel shot’ is a code word for discreetly asking a bartender for help.
  • The drink could potentially save a life and can be ordered in three different ways depending on the severity of the situation.
  • The first is an angel shot with lime, which lets bartenders and staff know the situation is serious and can call the police.
  • An angel shot is the second way to order the drink, which means you’ll need security or a bartender to take you to your car.
  • And the final way to order the drink is to ask for an angel shot on the rocks or on ice, which tells the bartenders to order an Uber, Lyft, or taxi for you.

According to the Alcohol and Drugs FoundationDrinking alcohol is very common and often goes unnoticed.

The medicine or extra alcohol in your drink may be colorless, odorless, and tasteless, meaning you cannot tell if any has been added to your drink.

Warning signs include: feeling dizzy or faint, feeling sick or sleepy, feeling drunk even if you have only had a small amount of alcohol, passing out and waking up feeling uncomfortable and confused, with blank memories of the night before.

To protect yourself from the dangers of binge drinking, always have your drink with you and don’t take your eyes off it, even when talking to your friends.

Another way to protect yourself is to ask for an angel shot, a product of the ‘ask for Angela’ campaign, which started in 2016 in Lincolnshire, UK.

In the wake of the #MeToo movement, awareness of sexual violence was at an all-time high, so Lincolnshire County Council developed the ‘Ask for Angela’ campaign.

Many bars and restaurants began implementing the “ask for Angela” campaign, which aimed to prevent sexual assault and encourage those who felt unsafe to “ask for Angela.”

When staff would receive the request, they would discreetly help the customer leave the bar or restaurant and call the police if necessary.

The ‘ask for Angela’ campaign became popular in Europe and led the US to develop its own version, known as the ‘angel shot’.

Because there are no requirements for bar or restaurant staff to know what the secret drink order means, many on social media have urged those ordering to have the meaning displayed on their phones or ask the bartender to look it up.
