‘Drunk’ Michigan man lunges at mail carrier with knife after receiving Kamala Harris campaign letter

A drunken Michigan man attacked a postal worker with a knife after receiving a campaign letter for Kamala Harris.

Russell Frank Valleau, 61, became enraged and tried to stab a black postal worker after receiving political mail for Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign.

Valleau allegedly said he didn’t want that ‘Black B**ch’ in his mailbox.

He then called the postal worker the same derogatory name and threatened her, according to Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald.

During the rampage, the apparently drunk Valleau grabbed a knife and attacked the postman. But she quickly fended off the attack by pulling out her Postal Service-issued pepper spray. Law & Crime reported.

Police later found the suspect in a neighbor’s yard after he had fled.

McDonald wrote: “In this highly charged political moment, everyone is entitled to their political opinion and vote.

“Whatever our political beliefs, no one should be attacked or threatened because of their race or because of their job. Hate crimes impact us all, and we will vigorously prosecute all such cases.”

Valleau’s next hearing is scheduled for Oct. 27.

He was charged on Friday with assault and ethnic intimidation. This particular charge set his bond at $25,000, which carries a maximum sentence of two years.

He is currently being held in the Oakland County Jail.

According to public records reviewed by DailyMail.com, Valleau has an extensive rap list dating back to the 1980s.

His most recent offense from around 2010 involved domestic violence and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The incident reflects the increasingly tense atmosphere surrounding the upcoming elections between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.

Last week, shots were fired at Harris’ campaign office in Tempe, Arizona, on September 23.

Employees at the Democratic Party-coordinated campaign office called Tempe police to report finding bullet holes through the front windows of the office.

It was the second such shooting in as many weeks, police said, after the front windows were shot with a BB gun or pellet gun just after midnight on September 16.
