AT&T has more than 100 million users in the US, but the number affected by the outage is unknown.

People took to Downdetector, a site that monitors online problems, to report the outage Monday morning in areas as widespread as Chicago, Atlanta, New York City and Houston.

The AT&T outage comes shortly after thousands of Verizon customers reported being unable to make or receive calls or send text messages.

T-Mobile users were also affected by the outage, with users complaining of losing their mobile signal completely.
