  • Her husband Steven, 47, has been charged

A mother who was allegedly mowed down and tragically killed by her husband lost her seven-year-old son in a drowning accident last year.

Steven Galcsik, 47, allegedly ran over his wife Natalie, 46, with a car at their home in Pokolbin – where they ran a luxury accommodation business – in the Hunter Valley region of NSW just after 6pm on Friday.

A family member called emergency services, but despite their efforts, Ms. Galcsik died at the scene.

Detectives are reportedly investigating how many times Ms. Galcsik was allegedly beaten.

Mr. Galcsik was arrested and taken into custody. He was formally refused bail at Newcastle Local Court on Saturday.

The couple were the owners of Unlax @ Hunter Valley, a boutique four-star bed and breakfast with self-contained cottages for rent in the heart of the state’s wine country.

Rooms at the rustic property start at $398 per night, with guests getting ‘360 degree views of the natural bushland and native wildlife’.

They were in business for seven years after purchasing the 40-acre property for $1.45 million in 2017.

Mrs Galcsik’s sudden death comes just 14 months after the couple’s seven-year-old son was killed in a drowning in a dam near the property.

The child was recovered unconscious from a dam in Pokolbin on August 18, 2023.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital by helicopter, but unfortunately could not be resuscitated.

Detectives are investigating whether the Galcsiks – who had no record of domestic violence – were struggling with marital problems in the lead-up to her death.

Police are also investigating whether family members witnessed the alleged incident News Corp.

It is understood the couple’s adult son made the triple 0 call.

An AVO application has been filed between Galcsik and his adult son, who will appear at Cessnock Local Court next month.

According to online reports, Ms. Galcsik was a horse enthusiast who was a member of the region’s equestrian community.

She also loved dogs and was interested in spirituality and holistic wellness practices, such as Reiki.

The property has been declared a crime scene and Daily Mail Australia understands accommodation services have been suspended until further notice.

Galcsik is due to appear before Newcastle Local Court again on Monday.
