FIFA is pushing ahead with plans for next summer’s Club World Cup in the United States, with football’s governing body set to take the important step of announcing the venues.

Gianni Infantino will appear at the Global Citizen Festival in New York on Saturday to confirm the stadiums that will be used for the 32-team tournament between June 15 and July 13.

Chelsea are among the clubs embracing their invitation to the competition despite complaints from elsewhere about player overload.

Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are among the other European sides to have qualified.

FIFA has not yet announced broadcast partners for the competition, but the confirmation of the stadiums is a step forward, with less than nine months before it all kicks off.
