Country icon looks unrecognizable with 60s-style short blonde hair at the People’s Choice Country Awards

She is a country icon who has sold more than 100 million records.

Billboard named her the leader of the ’90s country-pop crossover stars and her face is recognized worldwide for being a prominent feature on her many album covers.

But on Thursday night, the Canadian singer-songwriter went almost unrecognized when she arrived at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards in Nashville wearing a ’60s-style haircut and a Barbie-inspired denim outfit.

She stunned fans who mistakenly thought it was Sabrina Carpenter with her bold blonde locks.

Can you guess who it is?

It’s Shania Twain!

The platinum-selling artist spoke E! News about her image change – and told them: “Isn’t it crazy? I love it,” she said.

‘I was involved in the sketches and the design and the silhouette and all that. For me that is the joy.

“It’s not about putting on something great, it’s about being part of it.”

The That Don’t Impress Me Much hitmaker, 59, will host the awards ceremony at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

She cheekily said earlier this week that she would be heading to Shaboozey.

The 29-year-old A Bar Song (Tipsy) hitmaker is presenting one of the evening’s awards, and she’s keen to tell him in person how much his music makes her ‘smile’.

When asked which modern country stars she is a fan of, Shania told Taste of Country Nights: “Now new to the genre: Shaboozey. His music and his videos make me smile.

“I just want to be able to tell him that in person.”

She added: “One of the privileges I have as host of the evening is this access that I have.

“I’m going to make it a point, you know, just to thank him for giving off that kind of feel-good vibe.”

In addition to presenting, Shaboozey – whose real name is Collins Obinna Chibueze – has been nominated for several awards, including New Artist of 2024, Album of 2024 and Song of 2024, Male Song of 2024 and New Artist Song of 2024 for A Bar Song (Tibby).

Meanwhile, Shania confessed that she can get carried away if she gets her hands on a microphone and will probably go for a “walk” at night.

“I’m a very spontaneous speaker and thinker, so if I get confused they might have to pull the hook and take me off the stage.”

She continued, “I think it’s more about adrenaline than nerves, you know, just being excited, building up to meeting artists that I haven’t met yet.

“I will say that the night will pass too quickly for me, and the excitement may make me talk too fast or too long. I think I’ll be more of a giddy kid. I guess that’s it, I don’t feel like rambling on, you know?”
