Urgent warning for Sky TV customers: Due to an outage, users will need to upgrade their subscription to watch certain channels. Here’s what you should do if your device is affected.
They are some of the most popular TVs in the UK.
But if you have a Sky Glass or Sky Stream device, you might want to check this morning to make sure the device is working.
Sky’s Help Team has warned users of an outage, saying it is urgently investigating the issue.
Due to the outage, a message appears on the screen of televisions stating that you need to upgrade your subscription to watch certain channels.
The issue is likely to annoy many users, especially since it occurred just days after an earlier “technical problem” that left users unable to turn on their TVs.

Sky’s Help Team confirmed the outage on X (formerly Twitter) last night, but it has not yet been resolved
Several users have reported the issue to X (formerly Twitter).
‘Hi SkyTV, I’ll be honest. I pay for a TV licence and then the monthly fee and then I’m told I have to upgrade to watch BBC 1 or another channel. It’s starting to annoy me,’ wrote one user.
‘Last week I couldn’t watch TV because of the glass problems in the gutter, and now this.’
Another added: ‘Now I’m sick of this Sky. No Sky Glass, nothing from 8:22am Thursday 19th Sept until late afternoon Saturday 21st Sept.
‘Now, channels that we’ve already paid for and they say “to watch this you have to upgrade” First World problem, but it does irritate you. There’s no talk of a refund for bad service.’

One user expressed his frustration: ‘why does my sky glass suddenly say I can’t see gbnews? Says my subscription has expired all of a sudden. And doesn’t give me an option to upgrade? Weird. No message. No texts, no emails. wtf?’

Sky’s Help Team confirmed the outage on X (formerly Twitter) last night and have not yet provided an update.
“We are aware that some Sky Glass/Stream customers may be seeing an on-screen message saying ‘to view this you need to upgrade your subscription’ across various channels,” the company tweeted.
Support teams are investigating.
“We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Unfortunately, the cause of the outage is still unclear and Sky has not yet released a fix.
It was just six days ago that hundreds of customers reported a technical issue that prevented them from turning on their TV.
Sky apologized for the earlier outage and released a fix within hours.
“If you’re still having trouble enabling Sky Stream/Glass, please follow these steps,” the app tweeted, linking to its help page.
MailOnline has contacted Sky for more information about the latest issue.
