“Because my mother was Elvis Presley’s daughter, she was constantly talked about, argued about, and dissected,” Riley told People.
“What she wanted to do with her memoir, and what I hope I’ve accomplished by finishing it for her, is to dig deeper into the idea of the magazine headline about her and reveal the core of who she was.
‘To transform her into a three-dimensional human being: the best mother, a wild child, a fierce friend, an underrated artist, candid, funny, traumatized, joyful, grieving, everything she was in her remarkable life.
“I want to give my mother a voice in a way that she couldn’t when she was alive.”
