Ruff day? Owner shares hilarious snap of glum-looking Doberman after he was bitten by a rattlesnake

A dog owner has shared hilarious photos showing a sad, swollen dog after being bitten by a rattlesnake while playing in his backyard.

ToruTorque, a Doberman from Michigan, appeared bloated for the cameras after his face became swollen from the snake’s venom.

Luckily for the unfortunate dog, the victim’s owner, Kara Braniecki, rushed him to the vet, where he was given an anti-venom treatment, but was allowed to go home the next day.

She also noted that Torque had made a full recovery and was “playing with his siblings again.”

“Thank you everyone for the love he gets!” she added.

Rattlesnake bites can be life-threatening to dogs, causing tissue damage and breathing problems.

In this case, however, the Doberman appeared unharmed and waited for the swelling to go down, allowing the owner to take some funny photos.

The animal welfare website vetsoftherockies.com advises dog owners to consult a veterinarian immediately if they suspect their pet has been bitten by a snake.

While most pets survive a snakebite, it’s important to act quickly, the organization said.

The website also advises rinsing the wound with water in case of a snakebite to remove some of the venom.

It is also recommended to warn the veterinary practice in advance so that the staff can make the necessary preparations for the incoming patient.

It also notes that while owners may be asked to identify the snake that bit their dog, it is important that they do not interact with it as this increases the risk of being bitten themselves. Snakes are best left alone 90 percent of the time, it says.

Dogs can also be given a rattlesnake vaccine. This vaccine is designed to prevent future bites and reduce the severity of symptoms after a bite.
