AFL stars reveal hilarious costumes at Wacky Wednesday end-of-season party… and footy reporters are in the firing line!
The year has come to an end for Geelong and the post-season festivities have begun, with their stars making a hilarious appearance in Whacky Wednesday.
Last Saturday, the Cats were defeated by Brisbane Lions, meaning they missed out on qualifying for this weekend’s grand final. However, thanks to the players’ creative outfits, the party has now begun, as it has become an iconic post-season celebration for the football community.
Gryan Miers stole the show last year as football superstar Lionel Messi and this year the players have taken it one step further with hilarious costumes.
Tanner Bruhn posed as Nine footy journalist Sam McClure and held up a sign that read: ‘They won’t pick him, Mitch.’
Next to him were Mark Blicavs as West Coast’s Harley Reid and Max Holmes as Mitch Cleary. The sign was a reference to McClure’s bold decision last year on his podcast with Cleary, in which he claimed that Reid would not be drafted by the Eagles.
Reid headed west and enjoyed a fantastic debut season with the club.
Holmes was later spotted ‘interviewing’ Tom Hawkins, who was dressed as Anthony Ammirati, the French pole vaulter who went viral at the Olympics after his manhood hit the bar as he tried to jump over it.
Jeremy Cameron impersonated Russell Coight, while Ollie Henry and Sam De Koning arrived in a red Ferrari, a reference to Rush.
