Darts star James Wade has issued a bizarre statement after fans claimed he took a massive dump during a match at the Players Championship.

Images of the 41-year-old went viral on social media after his quarter-final match against Callan Rydz.

Wade secured a 6-5 victory over Rydz to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament.

After the victory, he walked to a table and the images showed the darts player bending his knees slightly.

Fans claimed they heard the sound of a fart in the video footage, which Wade denied on social media.

Wade, better known as ‘The Machine’, gave a bizarre explanation for the sound.

“I feel I need to address a situation arising from my performance up until the PC22 semi-final today,” Wade wrote.

Footage has surfaced of me shooting a ‘shart’ at the end of one of my matches.

“Actually it was the Velcro on my new trainers. I consider this matter closed now, because I don’t want to talk about it anymore.”

Fans on social media joked about the incident, with one claiming he should be called ‘The Wind Machine’ at upcoming events.

It is not the first time that a darts player has been accused of farting during a match.

In 2018, Gary Anderson was forced to deny an opponent’s claims that he had farted during a Grand Slam of Darts match after a ‘rotten egg fart’ came from his table.

“It will take two nights to get that smell out of my nose,” claimed his opponent Wesley Harms, to which Anderson fought back.

“If the boy thinks I farted, he’s 1010 percent wrong. I swear on my children’s lives it wasn’t my fault,” he said.

“I’ve had stomach problems on stage before and I’ve admitted it. So I’m not going to lie about farting on stage. Every time I walked by there was a smell of rotten eggs, so that’s why I thought it was him.

“It was bad. It was a stink, then he started playing better and I thought he needed some air. If someone did that, they need to go to the doctor. Apparently he says it was me, but I would admit it.”

Interestingly, Anderson was Wade’s next opponent at the Players Championship, and he eventually ended his run by winning 7-4 in the semi-finals.

Anderson won the event by beating Connor Scutt 8–4 in the final.
