Son of Trump assassination attempt suspect Ryan Wesley Routh arrested for child pornography

The son of Ryan Wesley Routh, the man accused of the second attempted assassination of Donald Trump, has been arrested on child pornography charges.

Oran Routh is in federal custody in North Carolina after his Guilford County home was ransacked over the weekend.

Researchers found ‘hundreds’ of images linked to ‘child exploitation’.

The two charges of receipt and possession of child pornography are unrelated to the case of his father, who is accused of trying to shoot and kill former President Trump at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, earlier this month.

Oran Routh will be seen for the first time later on Tuesday afternoon.

The prosecution wrote in the indictment that “an examination of the SD card in Device 1 revealed that it contained hundreds of child pornography files.

“These files contain videos from a known child pornography series that were produced outside of the state of North Carolina,” the report said.

The contents were discovered on a Samsung Galaxy Note, referenced in the complaint, which was found in Oran Routh’s master bedroom at his residence.

The complaint contained graphic descriptions of the videos and details of a July chat conversation in which the suspect allegedly responded to someone offering the illegal content for sale.

Prosecutors are expected to ask in court on Tuesday to extend Oran’s detention.

Oran’s 58-year-old father was charged earlier this month with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number.

He left the firearm – an SKS rifle – at the crime scene where Routh reportedly waited for the former president for 12 hours.

The FBI announced on the day of the incident that it was investigating the incident as attempted murder of Trump. Prosecutors said Monday that they plan to ask a grand jury to indict Routh on attempted murder charges.
