Courteney Cox reminisces over Friends on 30th anniversary and reveals if she still watches iconic sitcom

Courteney Cox celebrated Friends’ 30th anniversary by reminiscing about her favorite character, Monica, who she says is “alive and well.”

The 60-year-old actress, who recently attracted attention at the US Open, opened her doors to People on Sunday about the hit series’ milestone and admitted that she still watches the series occasionally.

“I just think it’s crazy because it feels like time is going so fast and I don’t even notice it,” she said of the show’s anniversary.

“We used to say, ‘Oh, I can’t wait until this month,’ or ‘God, it feels like forever.’ I would never say that phrase now,” she added.

When asked about her witty nature, she said, “Monica is alive and well. Are you kidding me?”

Friends premiered on September 22, 1994, and aired on NBC for 10 seasons, ending in 2004.

Cox starred alongside Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and the late Matthew Perry.

The actress told the outlet that she hasn’t streamed Friends in a while, but that I rewatch it every time I come across it. [watch].

She continued, “That show is incredible. Every joke is on point, all the characters are just so great, and we [had] the best writers in the world. I’m lucky that it continues through all generations. And that’s very fortunate.’

When asked for her inside scoop on a reboot, she explained that she “can’t imagine” it happening, given the lasting legacy the original series had left behind.

“It’s hard to redo anything,” she said. “Anything with a ‘re’ in front of it with this group… I think it’s so special.”

The series was a huge success and enjoyed high ratings success during its 10-year run, and continues to air worldwide in syndication.

Friends ran for a whopping 236 episodes and produced a short-lived spin-off for LeBlanc’s character, Joey.

The six recently reunited following the death of Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing, in October 2023. He was 53.
