Awkward moment Richard Marx almost ignores Prince Harry at Kevin Costner’s charity event – as ‘sick’ Meghan Markle stays home
Richard Marx almost accidentally ignored Prince Harry when the royal waited backstage to congratulate him on his performance at Kevin Costner’s charity event yesterday.
The 40-year-old Duke of Sussex attended the annual One805Live! concert at Costner’s coastal California estate without his wife, who is said to be unwell.
During the event, the royal father of two presented an award to local pilot Loren Courtney, joking that they both felt more comfortable in a helicopter than on stage.
Stars including Rob Lowe, Jeff Bridges and Pink attended the event to honor the heroic efforts of the first responders. Richard Marx was among the musicians who performed.
After his performance, the rock star was filmed leaving the stage and being introduced to Prince Harry, who was waiting in the wings.

Footage posted to Instagram by his wife Daisy Fuentes shows the Right Here Waiting singer almost walking past the royal before an off-camera man points him in the right direction.
As he escorts him to the royal family, the man is heard saying, “Richard? Prince Harry.”
The singer-songwriter appears bewildered by Harry’s presence as the royal shakes his hand.
Before the clip ends, the royal can be heard saying, “Hey! Good job.”
Richard’s wife Daisy – a model, comedian and former MTV presenter – then shared a photo of the rock star and royal engaged in conversation.
The 57-year-old then tagged the Instagram account ‘Prince Harry of England’, which is run by a fan of the royal family and has 410,000 followers.
Prince Harry has only used Instagram publicly through the former ‘Kensington Palace’ account – which has since been rebranded as the official channel of the Prince and Princess of Wales – and SussexRoyal, which has been inactive since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as working royals in 2020.
Last year, Meghan Markle attended the charity event with Prince Harry and guests were hoping the Duchess would attend again.

However, a source told the Mirror: ‘The story goes that she was ill and couldn’t come.’
Prince Harry is expected to travel to New York this weekend to attend other events, including the Diana Awards and a Halo Trust event, which Diana was involved with.
Earlier this month it was announced that the Duke of Sussex will attend the annual WellChild Awards in his role as patron of the charity.
The national charity for seriously ill children is one of the few organisations in the UK with which the prince maintained ties after he acrimoniously stepped down from royal duties and moved to the US.
He chose to remain in the role he had held for 16 years when his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, asked him to step down from his other royal patronages as he was no longer working as a family member.
There was no mention that his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, would be accompanying him.

According to some reports, she has vowed never to set foot in the UK again. When she flew to the UK earlier this year when the couple visited Nigeria, she didn’t even set foot outside the airport.
On Monday, the Daily Mail reported that Harry may travel to the UK to attend the awards ceremony, after both Buckingham and Kensington Palace congratulated him on his 40th birthday via their social media channels.
As the King currently lives in Scotland but returns to London regularly for his cancer treatment, this could be an opportunity for father and son to actually meet in secret.
But just two days before Harry’s birthday, the King has an important appointment in Scotland, when he and Queen Camilla visit the Scottish Parliament to mark its 25th anniversary.
This suggests he is likely to remain north of the border as long as his son is in the country.
The last time they saw each other was in February, when it was announced that the king had cancer. The prince flew in from the US to visit him briefly.
Earlier this week, Harry and Meghan also stressed that voting is a âfundamental way to influence communitiesâ and create a âfairer worldâ in a new statement ahead of the US election.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who live in Montecito, California, celebrated National Voter Registration Day yesterday by engaging the Archewell team in a letter-writing activity.
Archewell’s website describes how the couple’s staff used Vote Forward’s impactful letter-writing tool to encourage unregistered voters to vote in November’s presidential election.
The statement said: âVoting is not just a right; it is a fundamental way to influence the fate of our communities.
At The Archewell Foundation, we recognize that community engagement, regardless of one’s political affiliation, is at the heart of a more just and equal world.
‘By participating in these kinds of initiatives, we want to reinforce the message that every vote counts.’
