PKL Season 2 Winner U Mumba Holds 40 Days Training Camp in Ahmedabad

U Mumba is organising a 40-day training camp here for its 21 players under the guidance of head coach Gholamreza Mazandarani, ahead of the 11th season of the Pro Kabaddi League which begins on October 18.

Assistant coach Anil Chaprana will also be present at the camp.

U Mumba will play the season opener against Dabang Delhi on the first day of the tournament in Hyderabad.

“The training camp will focus on strengthening the tactical acumen of their revamped defence, utilising the strong bond between Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal and the experience of U Mumba mainstay Rinku to counter the attacking opposition,” the franchise said in a statement.

“During the camp, coaches and support staff will also focus on increasing understanding and bonding among players, thus ensuring cohesive teamwork to improve the team’s skills,” the team added.

Head coach Mazandarani added: “Although (last) season started well, it didn’t end as we had hoped. I understand what we need to work on, and that is our focus going forward.”

In the auction held in August, U Mumba spent Rs 1,015 crore to bring in Sunil Kumar, which was the highest price ever paid for an Indian player. The team retained Iranian defender Amirmohammad Zafardanesh Rinku, while raider Manjeet and newcomers Stuwart Singh and Amin Ghorbani from Iran were also added.

U Mumba will also field the combination of Sunil and Parvesh – the Asian golden duo “Su-Par” – in the tournament.
