Meity not allowed to change the value added target for mobile phones under PLI scheme

The Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity) is not changing the value added target for mobile device manufacturers covered under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme.

The government had set the target based on player commitments at 35-40 percent by the time the scheme expires in 2026-27. Industry estimates put the value added by eligible players at between 15 and 20 percent currently.

Although it is not linked to the incentives, the government does monitor the numbers.
