Stricken mother plunged into ‘every parent’s nightmare’ after leaving adorable toddler, 2, sitting on curb while she got other child out of car

A Maryland mother is in shock after her two-year-old son was struck and killed by a car after he ran into the road.

Cody Aguilar Gomez died Tuesday in a “terrible and tragic accident,” Annapolis police said.

The little boy’s mother, Karla Gomez, had briefly placed him on the sidewalk while she got her other child out of the car, when the toddler tried to get away.

Cody was hit by the vehicle just before 4:00 p.m. and died at the scene.

“I am saddened because the reality is that every parent’s worst nightmare has come true for the Gomez family,” said Annapolis Police Chief Ed Jackson.
