Taylor Swift fans flock to fall festival with a concert and eight-acre tribute to the star (and it’s far cheaper than the Eras Tour)
The brutal summer is almost over and preparations for fall are in full swing. To celebrate the start of Cardigan season, Swifties can now explore a maze inspired by Taylor Swift.
Carol Paul, the owner of Anne Arundel County’s MD Corn Maze in Gambrills, Maryland, has put forth impressive efforts to create the maze.
The paths through the corn are shaped like some of the largest signs and symbols associated with the mega pop star.
The seven-acre Swift-inspired maze, which opened on September 14, features a 300-foot-long guitar, heart-shaped hands and the numbers 1989, the year she was born and the title of her album.
The number 13, her favorite number, is also on it, as well as some musical notes and two Polaroid photos.

Additionally, at the top are the words “MD Corn Maze Taylor’s Version.”
Carol said WTOP News Her youngest son recently told her that he suggested the idea because his wife is a big fan of the pop star.
“I started thinking, ‘My daughter-in-law would probably leave my son for Taylor Swift,’” Carol joked.
“I mean, she loves Taylor Swift, and I was like, ‘Those are the ones who decide where we go on the weekends — the moms.’ The girls decide where they go on dates.”
The maze master added that parents are always looking for activities to do with their kids, so why not add some fun for them?
“I thought, ‘Huh, that’s not a bad idea. Maybe we should do Taylor Swift.’ So we ran with it,” she shared.
The MD Corn Maze has a different theme for the fall festival each year.
To create the Taylor-inspired maze, Carol and her husband, who have managed the maze since 2006, created a design and sent it to The MAiZE, a maze-building company, who helped finalize the plan.

In June, Carol’s husband planted the corn and when it was about two inches tall (which takes about a week or two), they used GPS coordinates and spray paint to map out the maze.
“We’re… weeding the paths so it gets the shape we want,” Carol added.
“We continually weed the paths until pedestrians come – the guests – and they keep it down themselves.”

This isn’t the first time a maze has been carved in Taylor’s honor. In 2013, after Taylor bought a house upstate, a Rhode Island farmer decided to welcome her by carving the words “Welcome Taylor” into a corn maze.
The farmer, Richard Manfredi, heard that the pop singer had bought her $17.75 million beachfront vacation home in Westerly and mowed the important message, along with a guitar, into the 8-acre field.
