In a conversation with PopSugar she said: ‘I did get an offer’ [the presenting role] I would have loved to do it, but I can’t at the moment because of the crowds.

“I said I’m not ready yet…I want a good workout. I’ve performed before, but not at Laura’s level.’

And Maya made her feelings clear on the subject, reportedly liking tweets sharing the story debunking Ekin’s claim.

Meanwhile, Ekin showered Maya with praise after securing the presenting role, saying, “She’s funny, intelligent, smart, beautiful. ITV made a good choice in choosing her, I think.’

Maya will start hosting the first of two series of the popular ITV2 show from early 2023, which will be shot in South Africa.
