Kmart Australia launches spring range with $25 dupe of popular $190 ‘dream dress’: ‘So flattering’

Kmart Australia has sent shoppers into a frenzy by launching a summer dress that is stylish, comfortable and looks a lot like an expensive model.

The Sleeveless Knit Woven Midi Dress is the ‘perfect’ outfit for the warmer months and has been described by shoppers as a ‘copycat’ of the $190 DISSH Mon Scoop Neck Midi Dress.

Both sleeveless dresses are designed with a round neck, two side pockets, a flared hem and a dropped waist, making them suitable for all body types.

Sydney mum-to-be Chelsea Williamson spotted Kmart’s latest purchase in store and bragged about it in a video.

“I found this cute dress in yellow. Yellow is definitely summer. I know that already,” she said in the clip.

The Kmart version comes in black, khaki, yellow and blue, while the DISSH version only comes in brown and white.

Nicola also accepted the dress, but in black, and declared that the department store is in the ‘DISSH era’.

Others admitted they are now ‘running to Kmart’ to get their hands on the affordable imitation.

The Kmart dress is available in sizes 6 to 20, while the DISSH version is only available in sizes 6 to 16.

This isn’t the first time customers have seen a DISSH lookalike at Kmart.

Earlier this year, a knitted dress from the retail giant flew off the shelves for $30 for its chic design.

Customers loved Kmart’s long, ribbed, V-neck, long-sleeved maxi dress for its versatility, comfort, and style.

Joy, better known as @joytanpillay on TikTok, boasted about the affordable purchase in a now viral video and said it reminded her of Dissh’s Reign dress, which cost $159.99.

“Ladies, you need to go to Kmart because they have this beautiful knit dress… I am so impressed with the quality of this dress,” she said in the clip.

“The material is extremely soft and comfortable, but not see-through. It’s a very flattering cut.”

One of the few differences between the two dresses is that the Dissh version has an adjustable back waistband, long cuffs and is heavier in weight.

The Dissh dress is available in sizes XS to XXL and in three colours: black, stone grey and white.

The Kmart dress also comes in three different shades, including black, beige and grape red.

Joy’s video quickly caught the attention of other shoppers and has since been viewed over 200,000 times.

“OMG this looks like Dissh’s dress,” one woman agreed.

‘I have this in black and it’s so comfortable too! And surprisingly warm,’ added another.

“The quality can’t compare to Dissh, but for Kmart it’s definitely good,” said a third.

‘AWESOME how this looks exactly like the dress Witchery made for like $150 or something omg? My work also made a limited edition dress like this in a dark fern color for $120,’ someone else wrote.

Another shopper posted a video describing three ways to style the popular dress.

Jane, who is known for her fashion tips on TikTok, first paired the dress with a denim jacket, white sneakers, sunglasses and a white bag for a casual look.

For a more chic look, she wore a black jacket with a belt over the dress and heeled boots.

For a comfortable weekend outfit, she opted for a trench coat, black loafers and a matching bag with a striped cardigan over her shoulders.

“I am 24 weeks pregnant and I wear knit dresses, especially this time of year,” she wrote.

‘This is such a versatile piece that you can wear it every day, as work wear and so much more!’
